Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position based at our Wellington Distillery. This position will report to the Process Manager.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
Achieve the mashing, distillation and effluent objectives for Wellington Distillery
Lead the team effectively to meet mashing, fermentation, distillation and effluent objectives
Perform on the job technical training in respect of mashing/distillation/effluent and ensure all Process Controllers achieve site standard requirements
Assist Process Manager in setting up budgets and implementing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program
Effective leadership of all TPM activities in area of responsibility
Accountable for Health and Safety in the areas of responsibility
Support Quality Management Systems (QMS) in laboratory
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications/experience/skills/attributes:
Relevant tertiary level qualification – Preferably National Diploma/BTech/B-Degree in Chemical Engineering / Winemaking / Food Sciences or other related field of study
Demonstrable knowledge of Distillery operations including mashing, fermentation, distillation and effluent processes
At least 2 years relevant experience in a supervisory capacity
Sound leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain good morale within the team
Must be willing to work shifts when necessary
Willingness to work overtime and when necessary, react to call outs and do ad hoc spot checks during night shifts
Sound communication, conflict handling and problem-solving skills
Well-developed analytical, innovative and critical thinking ability
Must be able to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Results driven with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Sound knowledge of Health and safety policies, procedures and practices
Computer literacy (Word, Excel, SAP)
Valid driver’s licence (Code 08) as well as own, and/or access to, reliable transport
Strong administrative abilities (including SAP, ISO and Excise procedures)
Punctuality and attendance reliability
