EPWP Land Rehabilitation Project Manager
Tourism World is seeking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced
project manager to assist with the implementation of a Department of Forestry,
Fisheries and Environmental Affairs (DFFE) EPWP Land Rehab project currently
being implemented in the New Hanover (Ward 2) and Cool Air (Ward 7) areas with
a total of 188 beneficiaries.
The successful candidate will be appointed on a fixed-term six month
contract from 1 June to .
Own transport and communication (cell phone and data) is essential.
Job Description:

Mapping of site implementation areas in terms of
current alien invasive species, bush encroachment and potential sites for the
planting of 200 indigenous trees, placement of park benches and waste bins
(Maps to be supplied by Tourism World)
·
Managing teams in the clearing of the project sites
i.e. alien invasive plants removal and bush clearing (slashing, uprooting,
ringbarking, application of herbicides including follow up spraying)
·
Managing teams in the planting of 200 indigenous
trees including site preparation, digging of holes, application of fertilizer
and compost, installation of support poles and ties.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
·
Experience supervising and managing teams in the
implementation of EPWP projects or similar projects in the nature
conservation/environmental sectors (a qualification or short course in Project
Management will be an advantage)
·
Experience in identifying and managing the removal
of alien invasive plants
·
Good administration and reporting skills
·
Experience working with isiZulu communities
especially in the context of community development projects (Ability to speak
isiZulu will be an advantage)
·
A qualification in the natural sciences such as
Nature Conservation or Environmental Science or Agriculture
·
Good people management and relationship building
skills and experience, particularly with disadvantaged rural communities.
Preference will be given to current residents of uMshwathi Municipality.
