Qualifications and Experience :
• MSc Structural Engineering/Materials Engineering/Mechanical Engineering (Materials)
• Minimum 4 years post qualification experience in research related to structural engineering or materials science.
• Candidate must have published at least 3 papers in accredited journals and/or conference proceedings
Key Performance Areas :
• Establish and grow the R & D section of Technical & IT;
• Development of testing protocol of materials, structural elements and systems;
• Develop, and commercialise the clients Laboratory;
• Develop quality management systems for the lab;
• Technical assessments of traditional and innovative building systems;
• Structural modelling and simulation;
• Research the performance of new and existing products, materials and systems;
• Investigation and development of forensic engineering methodologies;
• Research and develop appropriate remedial works technologies;
• Perform commercial tests;
• Develop technical standards for new warranty products;
• Interact and establish research and testing collaborations with other institutions (Universities, Agreement SA/CSIR, SABS etc);
• Research and develop models for housing performance (e.g. thermal, acoustics, condensation, fire etc)
